What is the Deanery?

The mission of the University of Oxford Education Deanery is to empower educators worldwide to understand, use, and co-produce high-quality research evidence in education.

We promote an exciting knowledge exchange between researchers at the University of Oxford and teaching professionals in a range of settings. We do this through:

1. Initial Teacher Education: A programme of teacher education leading to the award of a PGCE qualification through the Oxford Internship Scheme. Find out more here.

2. Continuing Professional Development: A selection of one-day conferences, short courses and more formal Masters and DPhil programmes are available. Find out more here.

3. Research networks: We aim to establish and maintain a network of research engaged professionals from both researcher and teacher communities to facilitate co-creation of research that responds to the substantive interests of practitioners and informs the direction of new research here at the University of Oxford Department of Education.  Find out more here.

“Through research, teachers become reflective practitioners and the process is as important as the outcome.”

Eluned Harries, Research Champion and Assistant Headteacher at Matthew Arnold School
