Subject Specific Networks
Subject-specialist tutors within the Department of Education are also working through the Deanery and in collaboration with the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance to develop and support subject networks for teachers interested in working together on the development of their practice, particularly in response to curriculum change.

The History Teacher Network, for example, co-ordinated by the two OUDE history tutors and a small committee of Oxfordshire teachers at different career stages, seeks to support teachers in three main ways:
- By collecting and sharing information about schools’ exam choices so that departments
following the same courses can seek advice from one another and plan together. - By running a series of small-scale projects/interest groups to work on specific projects and trial new ways forward. Current projects focus on enquiry-based planning, Key Stage 3 assessment and A level teaching within the new specifications.
- By holding an annual conference in June, including presentations by leading historians within the University related to the content of the new GCSE specifications and opportunities for collaborative planning.
“Very engaging and informative academic presentations – with clear practical applications in terms of a significance enquiry.”
