Summary

This investigation, undertaken in Part 2 of the MSc in Learning and Teaching,  examines Year 11 English classes both before and after they were divided by gender using questionnaires and interviews with teachers, heads of department, and students. Findings indicate that in divided classes, females felt freer to share ideas and males exhibited better behaviour; however, no change to subject choice at A-Level was observed.
