Summary
This investigation, undertaken in Part 2 of the MSc in Learning and Teaching inquiry uses focus group interviews and questionnaires to investigate Year 7-Year 13 student perceptions about the study of geography. Findings indicate general enjoyment of the subject; that younger students indicate a preference for concrete topics; and that students tend to think that technological advancements have reduce the need for them to study basic geographical skills such as map reading and they therefore tend to be disengaged by work on such skills.
