Summary
This teacher inquiry sought to improve students’ keyword knowledge – in relation to mathematics – so that in exams Year 11 students could access more questions. The teacher implemented a number of techniques – games, definitions sheets, regular tests – to try to develop and secure students’ knowledge of four key words. Results indicate that 9 of 15 students improved their performance from the original test to the next mock exam. (The focus on vocabulary was the only teaching that the students received in relation to the relevant content.)
