Metacognition: How can it impact learning?

Summary
This presentation, which reports on a literature review and initial classroom investigation undertaken in Part 2 of the MSc in Learning and Teaching, reports on the benefits of metacognition and why it is important to the classroom and outlines some particular ways in which teachers can promote it. This exploration informs a subsequent project (in Part 3) to explore whether the introduction of metacognitive teaching styles has an impact on the motivation of students in computing.
