Improving inference and comprehension skills of students with literacy difficulties

This teacher inquiry sought to improve literacy skills in Year 9 students with learning difficulties by implementing a vocabulary programme developed by the authors and based particularly on Beck, McKeown & Kucan (2013) ‘Bringing Words to Life, Robust Vocabulary Instruction’, Results indicate that students were engaged with the intervention and demonstrated increased confidence. Students demonstrated high levels of mastery at the end of the intervention.
