In what ways can effective formative feedback inculcate the intrinsic motivation of lower prior attaining boys?

Author

Luke Brewer

Summary

Using questionnaires and interviews, Luke investigates whether the provision of effective feedback can inculcate intrinsic motivation for pupils who have been given an FFT of 4 or below based on KS2 data. Findings suggest that students feel confident when targets are clear and when they receive feedback on their work. Conversely, when feedback is not provided, pupils’ confidence begins to diminish. He includes specific advice for providing effective formative feedback for lower attaining boys.
