Boys’ motivation in the MFL classroom

For her Part 2 investigation, Alice was interested in the relationship between gender, motivation in learning languages and the impacts of reward on motivation.

Both boys and girls rated motivators similarly – parents/family, teachers and career aspirations. Surprisingly, students ranked no rewards, food and house points among their top three preferences. Teachers are reminded of any potential gender bias in a language classroom.
