Liam is currently writing up the findings from four years on a project entitled Writers and their Dictators, at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin, USA. . Two single-authored books published in 2013 are: On Holy Ground: The Theory and Practice of Religious Education (London and New York: Routledge Research in Education); and Religious Education MasterClass (London and New York: Bloomsbury Academic).

Nigel’s research explores how learners come to understand the conceptual frameworks of others, in two main areas:
- Religion in education, especially dialogical perspectives on discourses, in law & policy, pedagogy and the classroom.
- Teacher education, how teachers engage with and use research in schools and classrooms.
